Sensuous Red - Ocean series Underwater photography by Maya
This image was taken at dusk in the Indian Ocean of the Maldives. Crown Squirrelfish (Sargocentron diadema) are large, active, nocturnal fish that tend to hide under rocks during daytime. I used a single strobe at 1/4 power to gently expose their striking red colour and took many shots until I felt the images represented them in a more interesting way. I shot hundreds of shots to capture not just their striking colour but also their powerful movement and intense gaze. This trio was mesmerizing and appeared to dance in a red dress..
